The Charm of The Beet Box

Nestled in the heart of Oklahoma City within the Plaza District, The Beet Box stands out as a beacon of creativity and flavor in the local dining scene. I found The Beet Box in Stillwater, Oklahoma where they first operated as a food truck. Myself and friends alike found the sandwiches to be so savory, we would carpool from the OKC metro to experience The Beet Box's signature vegan fried chicken. Even those who don't adhere to a vegan diet were happy to line up outside of the infamous food truck for a serving.

Since then, they relocated the truck to Oklahoma City, then began expanding into brick and mortar locations across the metro. The cozy ambiance, friendly staff, and commitment to sustainability make it a must-visit for both vegans and non-vegans alike.

Infamous Vegan Chicken Sandwiches

At the heart of The Beet Box's menu are their signature vegan fried chicken sandwiches. Each bite is a harmonious blend of crispy, flavorful plant based 'chicken' paired with fresh veggies, house-made sauces, and artisan buns. The textures and flavors blend together in perfect harmony, leaving you craving for more with every bite. Personally, I adore their vegan honey mustard, ranch, and the 'EAT MORE CHKN' sauce. Yet, all are equally mouthwatering alongside such crave-worthy entrees!

A New Home for The Beet Box

As The Beet Box continues to captivate their customers with phenomenal vegan dishes, the need for a new commercial space within the bustling Oklahoma City metro area has become paramount. The dedicated business owners behind The Beet Box, Gwyneth Yvonne and Randon Moore, are on a mission to find a space that accommodates their loyal customer base and also aligns with their goals as entrepreneurs.

In regards to their future goals and past experiences, co-owner Gwyneth elaborates:

"Our biggest struggle with past locations has been partnering with likeminded business partners. Whether that's a landlord, or someone who we are sharing space with, it has been very difficult. That's why we absolutely will not ghost kitchen, sublease, or be in a shared situation ever again."

The Beet Box's search for a new location is driven by a desire to create a welcoming environment that reflects their values of quality, innovation, and good business practices. Given their origins as a food truck, the majority of customers prefer to take their plant based plates to-go. That being said, a location specifically designed for take out would better suit their needs. To be precise, a commercial kitchen around 1,800 square feet is ideal. This would allow The Beet Box to continue to serve customers eager to savor their renowned vegan chicken sandwich. A more to-go focused setup would also provide room for the continuation of their newly expanded menu items such as vegan fish sandwiches, cauliflower wings, fried artichoke hearts, and various fruity flavors of fresh lemonade.

"We're looking forward to a longer term commitment so we can hire staff, have sinage, and focus on expansion." (-Gwyneth, The Beet Box)

In the coming months as The Beet Box embarks on this exciting journey to find a new home, patrons can help by keeping an eye out for any vacant commercial space that may suit this absolute gem of an eatery. You can reach out to The Beet Box regarding new business locations through their website (linked below), or via their instagram page. The passion and dedication within the homegrown team behind this beloved vegan establishment is palpable, and I look forward to seeing where they wind up next. From now until April 30th, you can still get your fix of their unBEETable vegan fried chicken at their current location - 1738 NW 16th Street in Oklahoma City.
